Felicity’s passion is teaching. With 40 years of experience, she is attentive to each students strengths and needs. Students are taught in a way that will create success and bring joy to making music. As they learn to read music and rhythms, they also learn the fret board, theory, chords and all musical terms.
Felicity teaches students from age 5 to 85. Lessons are taught at her home in Lafayette, Colorado.
Research has shown that the benefits of music study at all ages has a strong influence on learning and development. Studies have shown that:
- Hearing music stimulates the mind
- Music instruction enhances abstract reasoning skills
- Grade school students who have taken music lessons generally scored higher on cognitive development tests
- Playing an instrument strengthens eye-hand coordination
- Music lessons teach discipline, dedication and enable students to achieve goals
Biography
Felicity began playing the guitar at the age of seven. In 1980, she received her Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from the University of New Mexico and in 1982 received a Master of Arts in Music from California State University, Northridge. She has been selected to perform in master classes with world renowned guitarists Andres Segovia, Pepe Romero, John Duarte and Alice Artzt. She is the past guitar professor at Colorado State University in Fort Collins and former head of the guitar department at Colorado Christian University in Denver where she began in 1997. Felicity is the Executive Director and Founder of One Voice 4 Change, Inc., an international education nonprofit.
Felicity Muench is an active freelance guitarist performing throughout Colorado, USA. In addition to performing with the Sunrise Guitar Quartet, the Silverwood flute & guitar duo, with the Musical Bouquet violin & guitar duo, and as a soloist, she is a specialist in wedding music planning and consulting.
Felicity provides music also for dinner parties, receptions, corporate events and other elegant settings requiring equally elegant music.
